Refunds & Returns Policy

We’re a small, family homestead. Many items are handmade or perishable, so categories have different rules. If something’s off, reach out — we’ll help.

1) Eligibility Overview

  • Handmade Goods (Candles, Soaps, non-custom): Returnable within 14 days if unused, unopened, and in original packaging.
  • Custom / Made-to-Order Woodworking: Final Sale after production begins. Eligible for repair/replacement if damaged or defective on arrival.
  • Perishables (Eggs, Farm-Fresh Whole Chickens): Final Sale. Report issues within 24 hours with photos.
  • Pig Share (Whole/Half Pig) Deposits & Payments: Deposits are non-refundable. After your processing/harvest date is scheduled, all subsequent payments are also non-refundable. You may transfer your share—email us to coordinate.
  • Sale/Clearance Items: Final sale unless defective on arrival.
  • Gift Cards & Digital Downloads (if applicable): Non-refundable.

2) Start a Return or Report an Issue

  1. Email support@foreverhomestead.com
  2. Include: order #, item name(s)/qty, reason, and photos of damage/defect (and shipping box if applicable).
  3. For perishables, contact us within 24 hours of receiving/pickup.

We’ll reply with return instructions or next steps (replacement, credit, or refund where eligible).

3) Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Item

  • Report window: within 48 hours of delivery (24 hours for perishables).
  • Resolution: After review, we’ll replace or refund at our discretion.
  • Shipping damage: Keep all packing materials until we confirm the claim.

Handmade note: Minor variations in color, grain, scent throw, or finish are normal and not defects.

4) Candles & Soaps — Special Notes

  • Returns: Unused and unopened only, within 14 days.
  • Heat/Warm weather: If a candle arrives softened or shifted, let it cool upright 24 hours. If still unusable, send photos within 48 hours and we’ll help.
  • Hygiene: Opened/used soaps or candles aren’t returnable.

5) Woodworking (Custom & Ready-Made)

  • Custom orders: Final sale after materials are purchased or production begins. We confirm proofs/measurements before starting.
  • Fit/measurement issues: If the item doesn’t match approved specs, we’ll repair/replace. If your specs changed, we can often adjust for a reasonable fee.
  • Ready-made: Returnable within 14 days if unused and in original condition/packaging. Return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility unless defective.

6) Pig Share (Whole/Half Pig)

Deposits are non-refundable. Deposits secure livestock and processor time and cannot be returned.
  • After scheduling: Any additional payments made after your processing/harvest date is scheduled are non-refundable.
  • Transfers: You may transfer your share to another person—email us and we’ll help facilitate.
  • Pickup/Processor Policies: You’re responsible for timely pickup from the processor and any cut/wrap or storage fees according to the processor’s rules.

7) Perishables (Eggs & Whole Chickens)

All sales final. For quality or fulfillment issues, contact us within 24 hours with photos and your order info. If we determine there was a quality or fulfillment issue, we’ll offer a replacement or credit.

8) Return Shipping & Restocking

  • Who pays: If the return is due to our error or a confirmed defect, we’ll cover return shipping or send a prepaid label. For change-of-mind returns (eligible items only), the buyer covers return shipping.
  • Restocking: For change-of-mind returns, a 10% restocking fee may apply. We’ll confirm before you ship anything back.
  • Condition: Items must arrive unused, in original packaging, and in resalable condition. Use trackable/insured shipping—loss/damage in return transit can’t be refunded.

9) Refunds & Timing

  • Method: Refunds go back to the original payment method.
  • Timing: After we receive and inspect your return, refunds process in 3–5 business days. Banks/cards may take an additional 3–10 business days to post.
  • Non-refundable fees: Original shipping and third-party payment processing fees aren’t refundable unless we made an error.
  • Exclusions: Pig Share deposits are non-refundable and excluded from refunds/credits.

10) Exchanges & Store Credit

If you’d like an exchange on an eligible item, we’re happy to help. For fastest turnaround, place a new order and return the original per these guidelines. Store credit is available upon request.

11) Order Changes & Cancellations

  • Handmade/stocked items: Request changes or cancellation within 12 hours if we haven’t shipped or started production.
  • Custom woodworking & Pig Shares: Custom items are limited as above. Pig Share deposits are forfeited upon cancellation. After a processing/harvest date is scheduled, all payments are non-refundable (see Section 6).

12) Local Pickup

If you chose local pickup, please inspect your order at pickup. Report any issues within 24 hours. Once items leave our pickup location, we can’t accept returns on perishables.
